application) and human (befriending students). our education system focuses on the "head" element -
with emphasis on rote learning and standardized tests. there is nothing inherently wrong with
someone mentally grasping a subject. the problem becomes when this component of learning is
emphasized and the other 3 are ignored. the "heart" is often the most overlooked component of
teaching. if someone is passionate about something, he or she will continue to push, even when
frustrated, until it is understood. so, the question is how does 1 motivate one that doesn't love
the subject? it varies from student to student. if students see the subject is relevant to their
lives, they often become passionate about it. if they can connect what they are learning to the
things they love, they can become passionate about it. if they love their teacher, they often become
passionate about the subject....
